Two babies were found abandoned on Sunday, one in the Northeast and the other in the North.
The incidents come only days ahead of Children's Day, Jan 13, when children are customarily showered with love by their parents.
A newborn boy was found by a cleaner in the toilet of a store in Nang Rong district in Buri Ram on Sunday. He was taken to Nang Rong Hospital.
Boonlieng Rukkachat said she noticed a woman leaving after being in the toilet for a long time. About half an hour later she went in to clean the room and found the freshly born child in a plastic bag.
Pol Capt Decha Thongparpa, the deputy police chief of Nang Rong, said footage from security cameras inside the store had been examined and other hospitals contacted in case the woman sought medical treatment after giving birth. However, the mother had not been identified.
Staff at Nang Rong Hospital have unofficially named the boy Korbsuk, meaning "full of happiness" in Thai, and nicknamed him "Lucky."
The hospital's deputy director Noppadon Phitsanuwong said on Monday that the baby weighed 3 kilogrammes. His condition was stable and he was being cared for in an incubator at the hospital.
Dr Noppadon went on to add that the hospital had received a phone call from a person in Nang Rang indicating a willingness to adopt the baby. The hospital had informed the social development and human security office in Buri Ram of the case. He gave no further details.

In Phitsanulok, a boy of around one year old was found by the side of the road in Ban Chaiyanam in Wang Thong district on Sunday, Pol Capt Wiralpetch Worapongpakorn, the Wang Thong deputy police chief, said.
