Two B&M stores in Liverpool have now closed for good earlier than expected

Two B&M stores have now closed in Liverpool, early than originally planned.

Earlier this month it was confirmed by B&M that they were going to shut stores on London Road and Park Road for good.

The Park Road site is expected to be taken over by Lidl.

This morning, the closing date for both stores was still being listed on the B&M website as Friday, January 31.

However, a spokesperson for B&M confirmed to the ECHO that while that was the original plan, the stores have closed early.

The final trading day was yesterday (Wednesday, January 29).

Yesterday the ECHO reported that B&M Bargains could be planning a new city centre store.

Retailers at St John's Market said they believe the bargain retailer could takeover the large unit in Clayton Square left vacant by the closure of Clas Ohlson in 2018.

A spokeswoman for B&M did not confirm or deny the rumours, but said: "We’re always looking at sites for new stores and would welcome the opportunity to invest in the region.”

Now that the Park Road and London Road stores have closed, the nearest B&M stores to the city centre are on Great Homer Street and Edge Lane.

B&M also have several other stores across Merseyside, including County Road, Belle Vale Shopping Centre, Hunts Cross Shopping Park and Bootle Strand.
