Two of the best games of the last decade are making their way to Microsoft’s subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, next month. While Game Pass generally always has some hit games for players to enjoy, like the cult classic Disco Elysium that recently joined the service, April is bringing some extra value to subscribers.
The two major games coming to Xbox Game Pass this April are Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
Resident Evil 7 : The peak of survival horror

Starting off with one of the best survival horror games ever made, Resident Evil 7 joins Game Pass on March 31. Released in 2017, Resident Evil 7 brought new life to the iconic survival horror series. After Resident Evil 6 disappointed fans in 2012 with its excessive action and messy campaigns, Resident Evil went into a sort of hibernation period until 2017.
What earlier games had lacked in fear factor, RE7 brought back to an extreme degree with a first-person perspective, a first for the series. Set in rural Louisiana, the game follows Ethan Winters as he searches for his missing wife, Mia. Instead of reuniting with his wife, Ethan finds himself trapped inside a labyrinthian house, hunted by a mold-infested family hell-bent on ripping him apart.
Though it didn’t take home many awards (except in various VR categories), Resident Evil 7 is widely regarded as one of the best in the series and a perfect entry point for anyone unfamiliar with Resident Evil’s earlier titles.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: The masterpiece of 2025

It’s difficult to oversell Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Based on awards alone, Clair Obscur has already cemented itself as one of the best games of the decade. At the 2025 Game Awards, Clair swept with nine wins, including Game of the Year, along with six awards (every category it was nominated in) at the Golden Joystick Awards.
If the awards aren’t convincing enough, then the game itself should. Clair Obscur follows the members of Expedition 33 on their mission to kill the Paintress, a mysterious figure that paints death every year. Through turn-based combat, players fight their way through a broken, but beautiful, mainland inspired by Belle Epoque France full of monsters to reach the Paintress, though they might meet more dangerous enemies along the way.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a masterpiece, which makes its addition to Game Pass on April 2 exciting news to anyone who still hasn’t played it.
