Two ATMs ripped from walls in Kells, Meath in early hours of Friday morning

Two ATMs have been ripped from the walls in Meath in the early hours of Friday morning.

It is believed that the two cash machines from two banks were stolen on Main Street in Kells.

The two ATMs were driven away in a dark coloured jeep according to officers.

It is believed that around €200,000 has been stolen in the thefts.

The vehicle left in the direction of Carnalstown on the Maudlin Road.

Gardai were alerted to the robberies and rushed to the scene at around 4:30am.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí were alerted to an incident that occurred this morning Friday 19th April, 2019 at around 4.30a.m. on Main Street, Kells, Co. Meath and immediately went to the scene.

"Two ATM's were pulled from the main wall of two Banks on Main Street, Kells and driven away on the back of a dark coloured crewcab jeep.

"The jeep left in the direction of the Maudlin Road, towards Carnalstown."

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to contact Kells Garda Station on 046 - 9280820, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

This latest robbery brings the total number of ATMs stolen in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland to 15.
