Two people have been arrested after ten people, including a pregnant woman and two children, were found inside a lorry in Godmanchester.

Police were called at 2.20pm to reports of concerns for the group of people travelling westbound in a lorry on the A14.

The lorry was stopped at the Shell garage in Godmanchester.

Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and three ambulance officer vehicles attended.

The East of England Ambulance Service said none of those within the lorry were taken to hospital but crews remain on the scene.

Two people have been arrested - one on suspicion of assisting unlawful immigration and the other for suspected firearms offences.

Police said immigration services have been notified and enquires continue.

Last month, 39 Vietnamese nationals were found dead in a refrigerated lorry in Grays.

Lorry driver Maurice Robinson, of Craigavon, County Armagh, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey earlier to conspiring with others to assist illegal immigration between 1 May 2018 and 24 October 2019.
