Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a property in Leeds.

Police discovered the body inside a residential address in Stanhall Mews in Stanningley following a search at 2.49pm on Friday.

A man and a woman, both aged 35, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, told Leeds Live: "Obviously, everyone is very shocked about what has happened to this poor woman.

"We don’t know very much about what has taken place as yet and it’s normally such a quiet little street.

"I only ever spoke to her once or twice about bin collections and I don’t think anyone round here knew her at all to be honest, not even her name.

“The police were at the same house a week or two ago regarding a missing persons enquiry and I don’t know if what’s happened is connected to that in any way."

Police remain at the address as enquiries into the death continue.

Local officers are conducting additional patrols of the area to provide reassurance to communities.

Anyone with information that is likely to assist the investigation is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101, or by using the LiveChat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website.
