Two arrested on suspicion of burglary as police vow 'every report will be investigated'

Officers in GMP's 'burglary patrol' have promised that 'every report will be investigated' after arresting two men in Bolton.

Police were called to a business on Gaskell Street, Halliwell, around 9.30pm yesterday (Monday, September 27) and chased a man from the scene.

They later arrested two men, aged 30 and 35, on suspicion of burglary.

Both men remain in police custody.

Officers then discovered and searched a Citroen Berlingo van, finding several false number plates inside the vehicle.

DC Birchby, of GMP's burglary patrol, said the arrests would 'send a strong message' to the public.

"We understand that burglary is one of the most intrusive crimes you can experience and we will not tolerate it in our communities," he explained.

"I hope these arrests send a strong message that for every burglary reported to ourselves, we are prepared to take robust action to fight this high impact crime and every report will be investigated - utilising a full range of assets from across the force including from our forensic teams to identify offenders where possible and deliver crime prevention advice as well as supporting victims that are affected by this type of criminality."

DC Birchby also called on residents around Gaskell Street to support police by submitting any further evidence.

He added: "While we have made an arrest, our enquiries are still very much on-going, and I'd like to urge anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage from the area, to contact us on 0161 856 5757 or via the LiveChat function at www.gmp.police.uk quoting incident 3142-270921."
