Two arrested in Dublin after gardai find car involved in nine burglaries nationwide

Two men have been arrested following a series of nine burglaries that took place over four days across Ireland.

The arrests came after gardai were alerted to a car parked in a residential complex in the Saggart area this afternoon.

The men, aged in their 20s, fled the car but were chased and caught a short distance away.

The car was found to have been involved in nine incidents including two burglaries at business premises, six at domestic residences, and one at a construction site.

The men were arrested and taken to Clondalkin Garda Station where they are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

A garda spokeswoman said: “Gardaí have arrested two men following an investigation into a series of burglaries that took place nationwide between 27th March 2020 and 1st April 2020.

"The car was seized and a technical examination will be carried out. Investigations ongoing.”
