Two arrested in connection with Wolverhampton machete killing

The police are urging anyone with information about the killing of Mr Petrasiunas to contact them ( PA )

Two people have been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a father-of-one who was attacked with a machete.

Paulius Petrasiunas, aged 24, was pronounced dead at the scene in Chervil Rise, in the Heath Town area of Wolverhampton, at around 5.20pm on Monday.

West Midlands Police said a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

Meanwhile, a 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and is due to be questioned.

Detective Inspector Jim Mahon said: “These arrests are significant as our investigation continues.

“This was a shocking attack and is another tragic example of the dangers of knife crime.

“A young man has lost his life and my thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.

“I'm still urging anyone with any information about what happened to talk to us if they haven't already.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the family of Mr Petrasiunas, who had a son aged one, said in a statement: “Rest in peace, I love you so much and always will.

“Your little sister will miss you too.

“We will love you forever, my beautiful angel.”
