Two arrested in connection with north Dublin shooting released without charge

Two men who were arrested in connection with a double shooting have been released without charge.

Gardai rushed to the scene in Swords on Friday morning after a masked gunman stormed an industrial lot before blasting two men as they sat in a vehicle.

One of the men was shot up to five times and "died twice" in hospital  before heroic workers managed to bring him back to life.

A garda spokeswoman said investigations into the incident are ongoing.

She said: "Gardaí investigating the shooting incident that occurred on Friday 17th January, 2020 at Killeek Lane, St. Margaret's, Swords, County Dublin have released without charge the two men who were detained under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939."

The shooting happened in broad daylight inside a commercial yard at around noon.

The balaclava-clad men tracked the victims as they drove into the premises on Killeek Lane in the St Margaret’s area close to Dublin Airport.

The driver was hit up to five times and was in a critical condition after being rushed to hospital.

The man in the passenger seat was shot twice in the back but was conscious when taken into an ambulance.
