Two arrested in connection with disappearance of Scots cyclist Tony Parsons who vanished 3 years ago

Two people have been arrested in connection with Scots cyclist Tony Parsons' disappearance.

The beloved dad vanished during a bike ride three years ago in Fort William never to be seen again leaving his family heartbroken.

Missing grandad Tony, who is now 66-years-old, had travelled from his home in Tillicoultry on September 29, 2017.

The keen  cyclist  had planned on returning home by his bike but was instead reported missing on October 2.

Now two men, both aged 29 have been arrested in connection with his disappearance.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said:“We can confirm that on Wednesday, 30 December, 2020, two men, both aged 29, were arrested and then released pending further enquiries in connection with the disappearance of Anthony Parsons, who was reported missing in September 2017.

"Enquiries are ongoing.”

Tony travelled south on the A82 and was last seen around 11.30pm that night outside the Bridge of Orchy Hotel.

Tony continued his journey south in the direction of Tyndrum but neither him or his bicycle has been seen since despite a massive search operation.

Tony's son Mike said it was 'heartbreaking' watching Tony's grandchildren grow up and urged anyone with information to come forward.

He said in a statement issued by police: "None of us ever dreamt that three years ago my dad would have gone on his charity bike ride and we would never see him again.

"As a result my family and I have been left with so many unanswered questions that we have to live with every single day about where he is.

"As each special family occasion passes and seeing his grandchildren growing up without their grandad, it reminds us of the harsh reality of him not being here.

"I would ask that if you have any information, no matter how small, please contact the police as it may help to provide us the help and answers we're looking for."

A massive search operation was launched using mountain rescue teams, helicopters and dogs as well as civilian volunteers.

But despite appeals and releasing CCTV footage no trace has ever been found of the grandad.

An investigation remains ongoing.
