PHRAE: Two men have been arrested on a charge of stealing a pig from a police farm.

Sarawut Thoykham and Suchart Charkhien were detained on Sunday at their house in Long district. A pig belonging to Prasarn Arintharapaeng, a deputy superintendent of the Wang Chin police station, was still on their pickup truck.

Pol Col Prasarn found one of his 13 pigs missing after returning from a chanting rite on Saturday night. His neighbours told him they saw a pickup truck entering the neighbourhood.

Investigators later found the suspect vehicle in Muang district with the animal in a cage on the back.

Mr Suchart said they planned to sell the pig and share the money -- but his wife put the brakes on the decision. They then left the animal on the vehicle while they figured out what to do with it.
