Two men have been arrested for allegedly breaking into a luxury home on in South Pattaya and stealing luxury watches worth more than 6.4 million baht.
Police arrested Kritpong Boonchan, 26, and Nakharin Khemthit, 28, on Monday after tracing a getaway car captured on security cameras near the crime scene, according to the Daily News.
The arrests followed a complaint filed on March 2 by Natthaporn, a 30-year-old Thai woman, who reported that two masked intruders scaled a wall into her family’s villa while she, her foreign husband and their daughter were away.
The thieves allegedly stole a Patek Philippe belonging to her husband, worth about 6 million baht, and a Rolex owned by their daughter, valued at about 400,000 baht.
The suspects were arrested at a house in tambon Nong Prue of Bang Lamung district.
During questioning, the pair allegedly confessed to the burglary and told officers they had quickly sold the stolen items for cash.
They claimed that the Rolex was sold in Bangkok for 55,000 baht, while the Patek Philippe was sold to a second-hand dealer in Pattaya for 110,000 baht.
Police later located the Patek Philippe at the Pattaya shop named by the suspects. The watch will be returned to its owner, police said.
