Two arrested for killing man to frame rival in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: Two people were arrested on Thursday in a case related to the killing of a man whose body was found on the roadside near Nehar road under Jankipuram police limit on October 7 here.

“The innocent vegetable seller was murdered only because the killers wanted to use him in a conspiracy to take revenge from another man,” said police.

“A body was found on October 7 and sent for postmortem examination. A day later, the deceased was identified as Sitapur resident Ram Prakash (52) by his younger brother Rangilal. An FIR was also registered under IPC 302 (murder) and IPC 201 (disappearance of evidence) at Jankipuram police station,” said Qasim Abidi, DCP (North).

“A letter was found from the victim’s possession, blaming three people for his death. However, when police reached out to one of them named Shivraj Pal, a Sitapur resident and interrogated him, it turned out that he had no relations with the deceased person.” the DCP added.

Abidi said that after working out on the case with the help of a police team and CCTV footage, surveillance and with the help of an informer, police arrested one Krishna Avatar (55) and his aide Birju Lal (60), both residents of Sitapur, from Lucknow’s Jankipuram area where they used to live and work.

“On being questioned, the prime accused Krishna Avatar told police that he had an affair with Shivraj’s wife Neelam. Neelam used to live with Krishna. However, recently Neelam had gone back to her husband Shivraj, due to which Krishna wanted to take revenge from him,” said Abidi.

“Krishna along with his friend Birju, both vegetable sellers, made a plan to frame Shivraj after killing Ram Prakash. They mixed poison in the victim’s drink and later threw the body near the Nehar road,’” said Abidi.

“Both the accused knew each other and had earlier gone to jail in cases of attempt to murder and theft,” said Abidi.
