Two arrested for drug driving and 24 drivers caught speeding in crackdown

Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of drug-driving during a crackdown day in Bolton.

In total, 32 traffic offences were recorded throughout the operation day on Monday (April 11). 24 speeding offences were recorded, two vehicles were stopped because of their condition, six were seized and two arrests were made.

A vehicle check site was in place at Moses Gate Country Park as part of Operation Vortex. Inspector Joseph Barron, of GMP's Safer Transport Team, said: "Making Greater Manchester's roads safer is a priority for us - in 2021, 71 people died as a result of road traffic collisions.

"Hopefully, yesterday's day of action in Bolton builds public trust and confidence that we are committed to keeping people safe on our roads.

"Operation Vortex will continue across all of our Greater Manchester districts and we will take appropriate action against drivers who break the law."
