Two arrested for bike theft in Bengaluru

The Kamakashipalya police on Tuesday arrested two habitual offenders and recovered stolen bikes and gold valuables worth ₹6.3 lakh.

The accused, identified as Sandeep and Veeresh from Andhrahalli and Bellandur, used to steal parked bikes and used them to rob motorists on highways and near tourist places, the police said.

Based on a complaint by one of the bike owners stating that his bike parked in front of the house had been stolen on March 29, the police began to verify the CCTV footage to find two more bikes having been stolen at the same time from the neighbouring area of Annapoorneshwarinagar.

The police analysed more CCTV footage to identify the accused and arrested them. Based on their confession, the police recovered three stolen bikes and gold valuables total worth ₹6.3 lakh.
