Two men have been arrested following a police pursuit across Bolton and Wigan.
Officers spotted a suspected stolen car speeding along Manchester Road in Blackrod on Monday (March 8).
The vehicle was abandoned on Warrington Road following a pursuit at around 1.20am.
Police then chased the drivers on foot. Police dogs, a police helicopter and officers from Lancashire Police were called to help assist.
Two men - aged 18 and 20 - were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle. They remain in custody for questioning.
Chief inspector, Liz Sanderson, said: "This was an outstanding job by officers on duty in the early hours of the morning.
“Utilising all resources, officers were able to recover a suspected stolen vehicle and arrest two people who will be questioned later today.”
A spokesman for GMP said: “Great teamwork across GMP saw two men arrested following a pursuit across Bolton and Wigan.
“Shortly after 1.20am this morning (Monday 8 March 2021), a suspected stolen car was spotted driving at speed on Manchester Road, Blackrod, Bolton by a patrolling traffic officer.
“Following a brief pursuit, the car was found abandoned on Warrington Road and officers engaged in a lengthy foot pursuit with the support of police dog; Manpol Jax and his handler PC Ceraldi, the police helicopter and colleagues from Lancashire Constabulary.
“Two men - aged 18 and 20 - were subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle. They remain in custody for questioning.”
