Two men have been arrested after armed police swarmed a residential street.
Armed police swooped on Curate Road, in Anfield, at around 8.40am today on Friday, March 17. In dramatic scenes, officers shouted at curious residents to "get back inside" their homes.
People who had left the road were also told they could not access it again, even if they live on the road. Merseyside Police have now confirmed that the cordon is in place because a search is being carried out.

They also revealed that two men have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. The news comes after officers were called to Fernhill Way in Bootle just after 4pm yesterday on Thursday, March 16 following the discovery of a gun and ammunition.
A Merseyside police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that armed police have been in Anfield this morning, Friday 17 March. At around 8.40am, officers attended Curate Road.
"Two men have been arrested on suspicion of Possession of a firearm and a search remains ongoing. A road closure remains in place at Curate Road/Townsend Road as enquiries continue.
"Please avoid the area. Thanks for your patience and understanding."
