Two arrested and weapons seized after car stopped in Bootle

Two knives along with drugs were seized by police after a car was stopped and searched in the Bootle area.

Two men were arrested after the weapons and suspected class A and B drugs were recovered.

At around 5pm yesterday (Wednesday, April 7) , a car came to the attention of officers on patrol in Bootle. It was stopped a short time later on Beechwood Road and searched.

A 31-year-old man from Halewood was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs and possession of a bladed article in a public place, and a 28-year-old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

Following a later search of an address in Stanley Road, officers seized a further quantity of cannabis, suspected cocaine, and cash.

The two men were further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, and were taken to custody for questioning.

Community Policing Sergeant Chris Taylor said: "Operations such as this are vital in disrupting criminal activity, and thanks to the quick thinking of the officers on patrol, we were able to detain two men and seize a quantity of drugs, cash and two knives.

"Drugs and weapons cause misery within our communities and we will continue to target those involved in this criminality, but we cannot do that without the support of the public and so I would continue to ask our local community to contact us if they have information which could assist us."

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on the supply of drugs is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
