Two arrested after shoebox filled with £7,000 found in Kirkby home

Around £7,000, a large amount of cannabis and a knuckle duster were seized from a house in Merseyside.

Two people were arrested after a stop search led police to an address in Kirkby this weekend.

Officers initially found two bags of cannabis on a stop search on Tithebarn Lane, Kirkby.

Following this, police were led to an address on Corbet Walk, Westvale, where they found thousands of pounds in cash, more cannabis and a knuckle duster.

An estimated £7,000 cash was seized after officers found it hidden in a shoe box in a wardrobe.

The knuckle duster was concealed under a mattress in the house.

A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug, possession of criminal property, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and theft. The pair remain under investigation.

A Merseyside police officer said: "A sticky situation indeed. Kirkby community team are back at it with two bags of cannabis found during a stop search on Tithebarn Lane, Kirkby, leading officers to an estimated £7000 cash seizure, as well as a large quantity of cannabis at a house on Corbet Walk.

"He had a knuckle duster hidden under his mattress and kept notes of his drug deals in a shoe box in his wardrobe. It didn't exactly take a specialist search officer for this one!

"A male and a female have been arrested for possession with intent to supply a class B drug, possession of criminal property, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and theft. They remain under investigation at this time.

"If you're a drug dealer in Kirkby, I wouldn't bother coming out whilst we're about."
