Two arrested after Ryanair 'bomb scare' on flight to Dublin Airport sparked by 'note in toilet'

Two men have been arrested after a 'bomb scare' on a Ryanair flight that prompted fighter jets to be scrambled.

Flight FR1902 from Krakow to Dublin had to be diverted to Stansted Airport yesterday following reports a note was found in the plane's toilets claiming there were explosives on board.

The flight had taken off from Krakow in Poland and was heading to Dublin Airport.

Two RAF Typhoon Jets escorted the Boeing 737 to the airport on the outskirts of London last night after its crew declared an emergency.

The plane landed about 6.40pm and was met by armed police who carried out checks at Stansted as passengers were evacuated.

Essex Police say nothing suspicious was found on the aircraft.

The force said in a statement this morning: "Following investigations on the plane, we've been able to establish there is nothing suspicious on board.

"Two men – aged 47 and 26 – have been arrested on suspicion of making threats to endanger an aircraft and are currently in custody."

All passengers on board the aircraft were safe.

The RAF fighter jets returned to their base after the flight landed.

They had been scrambled from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, which is one of two RAF Quick Reaction Alert Stations tasked with protecting UK airspace.
