Two men have been arrested after a police officer was mowed down in a murder bid.
The female cop suffered serious leg injuries when she was struck by a car in Eglinton Place, Kilwinning.
The 28-year-old officer remains in hospital recovering from the incident which happened at around 1.30am on Tuesday.
Now a 58–year-old man has been arrested in connection with attempted murder and enquiries are continuing.
A 59-year-old man has also been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, 25 June.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
