Two arrested after motorbike raid on security van in Morriston

Two 33-year old men have been arrested in connection with the theft of cash from a G4S security van in Morriston , Swansea , on September 19.

Eyewitnesses saw the passenger of the motorbike lean to take a bag of money from the driver of the security van as they left the bank and were returning to their vehicle.

It is not known how much money was stolen from the security guard who was leaving the Halifax branch in Woodfield Street, Morriston, at 12:45pm.

After the incident, South Wales Police launched an air and ground search to find the driver and passenger of the "off-road" style motorbike used in the raid.

One of the men arrested has since been released on police bail and a second man has been released under investigation.

This is what police do after they receive a report of a crime:

At the time of the incident, Kevin Smith, who works at the Specsavers store opposite the Halifax branch, said: "I saw the security guard with two money bags of what looked like loose change.

"Two people (on a motorbike) weaved between the car and the van and the person on the back leaned over. It looked like they tried to take something."

The security guard was not injured in the incident. Eyewitnesses saw the guard try to "parry" the thieves away as they took the bags.
