A major garda probe is underway after a man was subjected to an alleged sexual assault in Dublin in the early hours of Monday morning.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the shocking incident, which is understood to have happened on Princess Street, near the GPO.
A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that is reported to have occurred in the Dublin 1 area of Dublin in the early hours of Monday, 9th August, 2021.
"Two males have been arrested as part of this investigation and are currently detained at Store Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"Investigations ongoing."
According to the Sunday World, the victim, aged in his 20s, was allegedly approached by two men who forced him to carry out a sex act on one of them.
The incident was stopped after around five minutes when gardai on patrol reportedly came upon the scene.
It is understood that the victim was walking home from a night of socialising in the city.
The scene has since been sealed off while a full technical and forensic examination takes place.
