Two arrested after man attacked with hammer in fight in Bolton

Two men have been arrested after a man was attacked with a hammer during a fight in Bolton.

Police were called to reports that a man had been assaulted at a property in Heywood Gardens, off Lever Street, in the Great Lever area of the town, shortly after 2pm yesterday.

Officers said the man, believed to be in his 30s, was involved in an altercation with two other men.

He was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

An eyewitness said the street was cordoned off by police following the attack.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called shortly after 2pm on Thursday 5 September 2019 to a report that a man had been assaulted.
 


"A man became involved in an altercation with two other men, before being hit with a hammer.

"The man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries that are not currently believed to be life threatening."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service added: "We attended an incident at a private address in Heywood Gardens at about 2pm yesterday."
