Two arrested after gardai seize €80,000 worth of cannabis in two vehicles

Two men have been arrested after €80,000 worth of cannabis was found in separate cars in two different counties.

The first search was carried out in the Kilgarvan area of Co Kerry at around 1pm on Sunday.

Cannabis with a street value of €60,000 was found and a man in his 30s was arrested at the scene.

He was taken to Bantry Garda Station where he has since been charged.

He will appear before Skibbereen District Court at 10.30am today.

While in a second but related operation officers stopped a vehicle in the Portlaoise area, where €20,000 worth of cannabis was seized.

A man in his 40s was arrested and he has also been charged in relation to the incident.

He is due to appear before Portlaoise District Court on September 24.

Officers said all drugs seized are subject to analysis.
