Two arrested after 'fight' led to nearby school lockdown are released

Two men arrested after a 'disturbance' that saw a school in Salford put on lockdown have been released pending further enquiries.

The drama unfolded after a' fight' broke out near close to Sebastian’s RC Primary School on Douglas Green in Charlestown, Salford, at around 11:30am on Monday morning.

The 'disturbance' involved a group of teenagers and one teenage male refusing to leave a property Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

As a precaution, staff at the school decided to go into lockdown whilst it was dealt with by emergency services.

In a message to parents seen by the Manchester Evening News they said the school was not involved and that all pupils were safe.

Following the incident, two males were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

They have now been released under investigation as enquiries continue, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said in an update today (Wednesday).

A message was sent to parents saying the school was being locked down as a precaution (ASP)

Another man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of breach of the peace but was later de-arrested.

GMP are still asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information, to come forward.

Anyone with information should is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 1218 of 14/06/21.
