Two arrested after drugs worth £105k found in car on Scots motorway during ‘routine stop’

Police have discovered a major drugs haul worth an estimated £105,000 after stopping a motor on the M74.

The officers were carrying out a routine traffic stop on the silver Skoda Octavia when they found a large quantity of herbal cannabis inside.

Two men, aged 30 and 45, have been arrested and charged with the discovery and are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court today.

Police Scotland revealed that the car was stopped at around 9.55am on Wednesday as it travelled on the northbound carriageway near Moffat.

Detective Inspector Dean Little, of Dumfries CID, said: “This sizeable recovery shows the dedicated work from our local officers to stop the supply of drugs reaching our communities.

“I would encourage anyone who has any information or concerns surrounding the supply of drugs in their area to come forward and speak to police by calling 101 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
