Two people have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a police pursuit through Wythenshawe.
The force helicopter was drafted in after the driver of a Hyundai I20 failed to stop for officers on the M60.
The car drove through roadworks on the M56 before heading into Wythenshawe.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the car was then pursued through the district for more than 10 minutes.
The car was eventually abandoned on Glebelands Road, GMP's traffic division said on Twitter.
The driver and a passenger in the car tried to escape on foot but, with the help of the National Police Air Service helicopter, they were detained.
Both were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Police posted a picture of the Hyundai on Twitter and said: "The Hyundai I20 FTS for #ME48 M60 J5.
"It would then contravene the roadworks on the M56 before continuing into Wythenshawe.
"Pursued for over 10 mins.
"It would eventually abandon on Glebelands Road and with the aid of @NPASNorthWest 2 x offender detained for burglary @NWmwaypolice."
