Man arrested after double stabbing in south east London

A man has been arrested after two men were stabbed in broad daylight south east London.

Officers were called to Brenchley Gardens in Honor Oak Park at 1.51pm, where they found the two victims with stab wounds.

The London Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

Both were taken to hospital where their injuries were said to be non life-threatening.

One of the injured men was arrested on suspicion of affray.

Police said a stop-and-search order has been put in place until 2.30am on Saturday in the wards of surrounding Safer Neighbourhoods police teams.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 13:51hrs on Friday, 19 July to reports of a stabbing on Brenchley Gardens, Southwark.

"Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and located two male victims with stab injuries.

"Both have been taken to hospital; their injuries are not believed to be life changing or life threatening.

"A Section 60 has been authorised until 02:30hrs on Saturday, 20 July in surrounding Safer Neighbourhood wards."
