Two men have been arrested after a car was allegedly driven towards a crowd of fans leaving a Premiership rugby match.

Officers were called to Gloucester's Kingsholm Stadium shortly after the home side's 25-9 Gallagher Premiership victory over Wasps yesterday, amid reports a car was driven at supporters leaving the ground.

Police said the driver then got out of the car and threatened people with a baseball bat, before being restrained by an off-duty special constable and members of the public.

No-one was injured.

A 27-year-old man is being held by police on suspicion of driving, public order and drugs offences, while a 47-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

The rugby club said: "Following the incident that took place outside the stadium just after the match today, we just wanted to say a big thank you to Gloucestershire Police for their swift action and we hope any fans involved are ok."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
