Two men have been arrested after gardai seized suspected cannabis worth €120,00 yesterday evening.

The man, who is in his 20s, was spotted throwing a bag over a wall by gardai on proactive patrol in Montpellier Gardens shortly before 7:30pm.

Officers carried out a search of the man and his vehicle and discovered the cannabis herb.

A second man, also in his 20s, was arrested at the scene.

A garda spokesman said: "A male in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Bridewell Garda Station. (He can be held for up to seven days.)

"A second male in his 20s was also arrested at the scene. He has since been released without charged with a file being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions."
