Two arrested after alleged stabbing leaves Scot with 'puncture wounds'

Two men have been arrested after an alleged stabbing in Ayrshire left a man with 'puncture wounds'.

The 29-year-old was allegedly assaulted on Racecourse Road in the town at around 7am on Monday, February 8.

As a result police said the victim was taken to hospital following the incident where he was treated for "a number of puncture wounds to his body".

Last month detectives appealed for information from the public after carrying out door-to-door enquiries and combing over CCTV footage.

A 29-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and was due to appear before Ayr Sheriff Court today, March 31.

A 20-year-old man was also arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He was released on an undertaking to appear before Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.

Chief Inspector Brian Anderson, Local Area Commander for South Ayrshire said: "I am aware of the concern this incident caused within the local community and would like to thank everyone who assisted with our enquiries.

"Anyone with further information regarding this incident can contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 0532 of Monday, 8 February.

"Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555."
