Two armed men stormed a pensioner's home and stole cash in a terrifying burglary.

The incident happened in Celbridge, Co Kildare on Saturday, May 9.

Two raiders, one of whom was allegedly armed with a knife, forced their way into the house at around 5.15pm.

They then threatened a man in his 70s and stole cash from the property in the Castlevillage Park area.

Gardai have not revealed exactly how much money was taken.

Nobody was injured in the incident, and no arrests have yet been reported.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred at a house in the Casttlevillage Park area of Celbridge on May 9 at approximately 5:15pm.

"It is reported that two males, on allegedly armed with a knife, forced entry to the house. They then threatened the occupant, a man aged in his 70s, and took an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were sustained.

"Investigations are ongoing."
