Two areas of Wirral where car thefts are rising leading to a warning for motorists

People living in two areas of Wirral are being asked to take extra care and precautions after a spate of car thefts in parts of the borough.

Merseyside Police confirmed there were five car thefts or attempted car thefts reported to them over a three day period last week in the Rock Ferry and Bromborough areas of the Wirral.

The incidents, which all took place between Thursday and Sunday last week, have prompted officers from Merseyside Police to issue a warning to car owners in the area on social media.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police posting on Twitter as MerPol Wirral issued a statement about the incidents, warning vehicle owners to take extra care.

The spokesperson said: "There has been an increase in reports of theft from motor vehicles in the Rock Ferry and Bromborough areas."

Advice was issued on how vehicle owners can protect their cars from becoming the target of thefts after the spate of incidents came to light.

The Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Please ensure that you lock your car and remove any valuables, even if it is parked outside your house or on a driveway."
