A quick-thinking local came to the rescue of two American tourists after their car plunged into the sea on Valentia Island on Monday afternoon.
Local man Mike Moriarty, aged 21, was enjoying a pint in the nearby Royal Hotel in Knightstown, Co Kerry when another punter said she saw a car enter the water off a slipway.
Mr Moriarty quickly left his drink and went outside as he came to the rescue of an American couple who are understood to be aged in their seventies.
Speaking to Radio Kerry after the incident, he said: "I was in the Royal and somebody just tapped me on the shoulder and said there was a car after going off the slip way.

"I couldn't see it from the window so I went outside and then I saw the car.
"I took my phone and my wallet out of my pocket and I jumped in."
As the front of the car was submerged in water Mike was unable to open the drivers door and quickly opened the back door to allow water to fill and balance the car.
He said: "The car was kind of down by its head.
"I couldn't open the drivers door so I opened the back door and it let a load of water into the car and then I was able to open the front door and I just pulled the two of them out."
