Twitter reacts to the Texans drafting Stanford QB Davis Mills in Round 3 of the 2021 NFL draft

The Houston Texans drafted former Stanford Cardinal quarterback Davis Mills with the No. 67 overall pick in Round 3 of the 2021 NFL draft Friday night.

For the Texans, the pick almost certainly signals the end of the Deshaun Watson era in Houston. Why else would you use the first pick of your draft to take a quarterback? What stinks for the Texans is they were unwilling and then unable to deal Watson to pick up more selections in the draft or future drafts.

Such is life.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the selection of Mills in the third round.

The pick of Mills didn’t seem as bad as some imagined:

What is almost a no-brainer is that Mills will see time for Houston in 2021 because either Watson is leaving town or will be suspended.

CBS Sports’ Will Brinson acknowledged that Mills’ pick does impact Watson’s future, but also noted teams take second or third-round quarterbacks frequently:

One connection that is overlooked is how the Texans’ quarterbacks coach, Pep Hamilton, was the receivers coach in 2010 when David Shaw, Stanford’s coach, was the offensive coordinator and running backs coach. Certainly the two coaches may have talked this offseason about Mills.

Hey, Dan Orlovsky, who knows no boundaries, liked Mills:

Mills’ high school alma mater was proud to see him go to the Texans:

The drafting of Mills is just more proof that the NFL draft brings its own drama.
