Twitter reacts to the Chargers’ selection of LB Drue Tranquill

The Chargers were in need of shoring up the linebacker position, and they did that in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft with the selection of former Notre Dame linebacker Drue Tranquill.

It’s rare that you see players bounce back from two ACL surgeries, but Tranquill did that, finishing his collegiate career on a strong note. Linebacker Thomas Davis had three ACL surgeries and would be the first to attest to how hard it is.

Now, Tranquill joins Thomas on the same team.

Tranquill was one of the top character players in the draft, and it was evident that general manager Tom Telesco fell in love with that and his ability to make plays in the middle of the defense.

A two-year captain at Notre Dame, Chargers LB Drue Tranquill said versatility is his strongest attribute. Tranquill said he was a core special teams player at ND. “I’m able to create mismatches with tight ends and running backs, run sideline to sideline and make plays,” he said.
