Twitter reacts to ‘Ted Lasso’ referencing the Denver Broncos

Spoilers ahead!

Without getting too deep into the spoiler specifics, the latest episode of Apple’s popular Ted Lasso show makes reference to the Denver Broncos.

In the episode, the coach recalls a story of his friend who grew up a Broncos fan surrounded by Kansas City Chiefs fans. Lasso mentions that the friend had to watch the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl wins in the late 1990s alone, something the coach regrets in hindsight.

While the show mentions Denver’s first two Super Bowl titles, Lasso also makes a jab at the club during the story, calling them a “garbage-ass team.”

Jason Sudeikis, the actor who portrays Ted Lasso, is a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs in real life, so it’s no surprise that he wanted to take a shot at their rival in the popular TV show.

Here’s a sampling of how Twitter reacted to the Broncos being referenced in this week’s episode of Ted Lasso.

Warning: Big spoilers in the video below.

The Broncos have plenty of celebrity fans of their own, including Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park. The show has made many references to the team and they placed cardboard cutouts at the club’s stadium during COVID-19.

Go Broncos!
