Twitter reacts to Andrew Luck’s stunning decision to retire from the NFL

Andrew Luck’s NFL career is over, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who tweeted Saturday night that Luck is “mentally worn down” and is done with football.

Schefter also reported that there will be a press conference to make it official on Sunday.

UPDATE: Andrew Luck confirmed the news after Saturday night’s preseason game with the Bears.

Luck, who is just 29 years old, played in all 16 games last season after missing all of 2017 with a shoulder injury. He threw for 39 touchdowns and 4,593 yards, which were both second best in his career.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft has missed most of camp and the preseason with an ankle injury but nobody expected this to be his next move.
