Twitter reacts to Seahawks release of Kam Chancellor, Doug Baldwin

Seattle sports lost two icons this week when the Seahawks cut hard-hitting safety Kam Chancellor and star slot receiver Doug Baldwin on the same day.

While Chancellor’s release was expected after he didn’t play during the 2018 season, Baldwin’s was a recent development. The 30-year-old underwent three surgeries over the offseason, most recently to correct a sports hernia.

Seattle selected three receivers in the 2019 NFL draft, as well as two safeties, indicating the team is looking toward the future after losing two of their star players. Although neither has officially filed the paperwork, it is expected they will both officially retire from the NFL.

Twitter immediately exploded with an outpouring of support, grief, shock, sadness and even anger when the announcement came out.

Here are a few tweets from fans, players, former teammates and more.

Chancellor and Baldwin were two instrumental pieces in Seattle’s back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, and they will both be future members of the Ring of Honor.
