Twitter reacts to new megadeal for Seahawks QB Russell Wilson

The Seattle Seahawks and star quarterback Russell Wilson agreed late Monday to a record-breaking four-year, $140 million contract extension that will keep Wilson in Seattle through 2023.

The deal was announced by Wilson himself, who tweeted a short video from his bed alongside his wife, R&B superstar Ciara.

The reaction on social media was swift from many of Wilson’s former and current teammates, even though Wilson’s Twitter announcement was not until 12:44 a.m. PT.

Players weren’t the only people using social media to congratulate Russell for his payday.

With Wilson’s contract situation resolved, Seattle will no doubt turn their attention to a trio of other contracts that are expiring after 2019: linebacker Bobby Wagner, defensive end Frank Clark and defensive tackle Jarran Reed.

While retaining all four players will be a challenge, Seattle at least knows what kind of salary cap space they are going to have for the next five years and can make adjustments accordingly.
