Jan Blachowicz won a UFC main event for the first time on Saturday when he went into enemy territory to defeat Ronaldo Souza at UFC on ESPN+ 22.
Blachowicz (25-8 MMA, 8-5 UFC) strengthened his case for a light heavyweight title shot when he ruined Souza’s (26-8 MMA, 9-5 UFC) move up to the division with a split decision victory in the headlining bout, which took place at Ginásio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, and streamed on ESPN+.

Always been a Jacare fan, but I don’t like fighters taking on 5-round main events as their first assignment at a new weight class. I think Blachowicz’s wrestling is good enough to dictate where this fight takes place, and see his straight shots troubling Jacare.

This is a slow fight but I'm enjoying it. Interesting to see how hesitant Jan Blachowicz is on the feet. You can tell Jacare's power has had an effect on the bigger man. Jan has stopped all the takedowns, and still might be down 3-0 in rounds.
