The Javon Wims era has finally come to an end in Chicago as the Bears waived the former seventh-round pick on Thursday. Wims had been dealing with an oblique injury for the last week, and he was falling behind in the wide receiver battle for the final two roster spots.
Wims is best known for two things — taking a swing at Saints safety CJ Gardner-Johnson and, most recently, dropping a touchdown pass from Mitch Trubisky in the Bears’ wild-card playoff loss to New Orleans last season.
As you can imagine, Bears Twitter was quite animated following the roster move, as many had Wims pegged as a roster cut for some time. While some are just ready to move on from the Wims era, there are others that see this as a clearer path to preseason darling Rodney Adams earning a spot on the 53-man roster.
