Free agency is always filled with a series of unforeseeable twist and turns. The Jets found that out first-hand on Tuesday, when Anthony Barr backed out of his deal with New York and agreed to re-sign with the Minnesota Vikings.
Barr’s contract with the Jets was set to pay him around $15 million per year, but it was not enough to keep the UCLA product from leaving the team that drafted him. Now, the Jets will have to return to the free agent market in search of a pass rusher. Barr was New York’s top option at the position, but there are still plenty of talented edge rushers still available for the taking.
While the Jets’ front office works on finding a replacement for Barr, Twitter is having a field day with his decision to spurn the Jets. Here are some of the best Tweets following the news of Barr’s decision to remain with the Vikings.
