Twitter Reacts as Former Bulldog Isaiah Crowell Signs with Raiders

The Oakland Raiders signed former Georgia Bulldogs RB Isaiah Crowell, formerly with the New York Jets, to a one year contract today. The deal is worth $2.5 million per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

It is safe to assume the deal is not fully guaranteed and may have incentives, since Schefter specified that it is “worth up to $2.5 million”.

The New York Jets released Crowell following their splash free agent signing of RB Le’Veon Bell.

The Oakland Raiders are one of the most running back needy teams in the NFL. Their current backfield situation features only Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington. Marshawn Lynch is a question mark to return after he spent much of 2019 on IR. Lynch is more likely to come back, since the Raiders decided to return for their final season in Oakland, but the Crowell signing indicates they may be going in other direactions. Next year, Jon Gruden and the Raiders are headed to Las Vegas.

The Raiders will provide a solid role for Crowell, the former Cleveland Browns and New York Jets RB. Yes, this depends on if the Raiders spend one of their three 1st round picks on RB Josh Jacobs or another talented back. At a minimum, Crowell will be a valuable back-up for the Raiders, who can be trusted in any rushing situation.

Crowell previewed his abilities for the Raiders:

Raiders fans support the move to add Crowell. I think Crowell is a very fitting player for the Raiders and can provide them with some more physicality.
