The Georgia Bulldogs football program landed another commitment from quarterback Gunner Stockton. Stockton, a member of the class of 2022, is rated a five-star recruit and is ranked the No. 1 dual threat quarterback in his class.
Stockton plays football for Rabun County High School in Tiger, Georgia. He was originally committed to South Carolina under Will Muschamp and Mike Bobo’s staff. Then, the Gamecocks fired Will Muschamp and Mike Bobo left for Auburn.
As a result, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound quarterback decommitted. He made his decision a couple weeks ago following the coaching staff changes for South Carolina.
Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia have seven commitments in the class of 2022. All the commitments are from in-state prospects, including two five-star recruits.
The five-star quarterback recruit shocked a few folks across the SEC with his decision because Georgia has five-star 2021 quarterback Brock Vandagriff as an early enrollee. Many expected him to follow Mike Bobo and commit to Auburn. Georgia was in Stockton’s top two several months ago, so he’s always thought highly of the Dawgs.
