Rupert Murdoch and Elon Musk were spotted sitting next to each other and chatting at the Super Bowl.

Murdoch, the owner of the Fox empire who was this year’s broadcaster of the sporting event, was seen sat next to Musk, owner of Twitter, SpaceX and Tesla, shortly after Rihanna’s half time show.

Viewers reacted on Twitter. Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote: “Birds of a feather flock together”.

Another wrote: “Oh, look who’s hanging with Rupert Murdoch,” while another added:”Elon Musk with Rupert Murdoch. I can’t think of a worse duo.”

Some pointed out the irony that Musk tweeted:  “Some of the smartest people I know actively believe the press … amazing” just days before he sat next to Murdoch - one of the most powerful media personalities in the world.

Commentator Kevin Burkhardt – a Fox employee – commented on the “brilliant minds in that box” as the footage of the pair was broadcast. He also acknowledged that Mr Murdoch pays his salary.

The pair were among the famous faces in the crowd at the 63,000-seat State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday.

Jay-Z, Cara Delevingne, Adele, and Sir Paul McCartney – who headlined the Super Bowl half time show himself in 2005 - were all in the crowd.

Model and actress Delevingne shared a photograph on Instagram of herself sporting a t-shirt with the slogan: “Rihanna concert interrupted by a football game, weird but whatever.”

The Kansas City Chiefs engineered a second-half comeback to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 and claim their second Super Bowl in four years.

Rihanna confirmed she is pregnant for a second time during a hit-heavy headline slot.

The Barbadian singer, 34, kicked off her live performance suspended high above the stadium, dressed in a bold red ensemble jumpsuit while an army of dancers dressed in white gathered beneath her.

Debuting her pronounced baby bump at the beginning of the performance, Rihanna rubbed her hand over her stomach to announce her second pregnancy nine months after the birth of her son in May 2022.

The pop megastar treated fans to a selection of hits from her catalogue, including Bitch Better Have My Money, We Found Love and Umbrella, as well as two tracks she recorded with controversial rapper Kanye West – played back to back.
