As many as another 200 people have lost their jobs at Twitter, according to reports. It means that the number of people working for the social media company has reduced by nearly 75%.
According to a report in the Independent, media outlets in the USA said on Sunday that between 50 and 200 people had lost their jobs. Billionaire Elon Musk, the man behind Tesla and Space X, has overseen a brutal efficiency programme since he took over the tech giant.
A report by the The New York Times said the latest round of cuts totalled around 200 staff, about 10% of the remaining 2,000 workers. The Information, which is a Silicon Valley news site, had the number at a minimum of 50.
It has even been reported that high-ranking people who had been publicly supportive of Mr Musk had faced the axe. That, according to reports, included payments chief Esther Crawford.
It all means that, since Mr Musk's takeaway, Twitter workforce has reduced from around 7,500 to less than 2,000. The Independent said it had asked Twitter for a comment but it had not yet received one. The company abolished its media communications team last year.
Mr Musk has already made significant changes to the Twitter platform, but sweeping cuts have also meant problems with the site, including outages.
