The new font took many Twitter users by surprise
(Picture: Twitter/Getty)Twitter made a cosmetic tweak on Wednesday after they implemented a new font. While for some, the revamped font may not have seemed like a big deal, other users of the social media website begged to differ.
Earlier in the year, news circulated that Twitter planned to change their font to a custom typeface called Chirp, after the company had used fonts like SF Pro, Roboto and Helvetica Neue.
According to Tech Crunch, the goal with Chirp “was to offer a typeface that’s sharp and legible for everyday use, but also one that would allow for more personality, including when put into motion or used for brand advertising.”

The Chirp font started to make an appearance across the social media platform in May on macOS and it appears as though the change for the rest of the social media website has happened now.
Those who noticed the change went straight to the app to express their concern – while others didn’t know any different.
One said, “wtf just happened to my twitter whys the font like that and why are the buttons white im scared.”
While one passionate user tweeted, “WHY THE F*** IS MY TWITTER ALL WEIRD WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE THIS WHATS WITH THE FONT HELLO!?!?!? ALSO WHY IS IT WHITE??!?!? HELP!!?!!”
“ewww twitter just f****d up the f***ing font and all the colours why is the follow thing on accs i dont follow now filled out?? @Twitter @TwitterSupport fix your shit. This is ugly as f***”, another added.
